We are currently using Manhattan WMOS 2011 and working to setup logical picking zones. We want to divide our warehouse into logical zones that restrict picker movement. We want users to log into Zone 1 and see only tasks in that Zone. When they get to no more tasks available, then to send them to another zone. Has anyone had any experience withs setting up something similar? Any documentation from Manhattan or elsewhere that we can use as a guide?

You can almost do this, we use it for promotional areas of the warehouse where pickers log into a unique task group and bounce back and forth between promo tasks and normal tasks.

Create a new task group (B-337) and update corresponding task group tables.

Create a new Pick Determination Zone (B-331)

Create a new Task Type (S-590)

Create a new task creation rule, leveraging on the new Carton Type for the new PDZ and apply the new Task Type as the type to create and put the task priority as something high (10 or 20 - it must be a higher priority than the normal picking).

in TASK_GRP_ELGBLTY insert records for the new task groups and task types and do the same for INT_PATH_DEFN.

when pickers log into the new task group to pick they will pick all these tasks first, once they are completed, they will automatically pick up the normal tasks again (not switching task groups) and when there is work available again for the new tasks, they will pick these again.
