Hello,

We have a business requirement that we are having difficulty desining into our Manhattan WMS.  Our company has both Retail stores and online eCommerce orders and we sell clothing apparel.  We want to be able to handle our clothing in inventory buckets that denote the status / condition of the units.  The following are examples:

  • Available - these are units that can be sold online and in our Retail stores
  • QM - these are units that are currently being held of quality inspection.  Until the inspection is complete, these units are not available and should not be allocated or shipped.
  • RTV - these are normally units that are going to be sent back to suppliers because of quality issues, defects etc.  These untis are not available for either our Retail stores or eCommerce orders, but we need to be able to wave, allocate and ship these back to our suppliers for credit.
  • Repair - these are units that are held in a Repair status and are not available for either our Retail stores or eCommerce.   However, we need to be able to pass an order down to our WMS to wave, allocate and ship these to local factories for "repair".  Once the work is completed, they will be shipped back to our DC and the units will become available.

I am not a Manhattan expert and I do not know if we should be using LOCK codes, product statuses etc., but I'm interested to understand how other companies are handling this requirement.  At a high level, how to we allow inventory to be allocatable and shippable back to suppliers and factories, but exclude these from being picked for Retail stores and eCommerce orders.  In our order management system, we can send down specific order requests (e.g. suppier RMA, factory repair order etc.), but I'm not sure how to control the functions in the WMS.

thanks in advance for any insight.

Regards,
RJ
